David Paton at Knockhill.
Nineteen year old motorbike racer David Paton from Loanhead in Midlothian had been selected for the 2008 European Junior Superstock championship which runs alongside the World Superbike championship. This is held over 10 rounds in 7 Countries.
Paton put in blistering performances in last years Virgin Media Cup at the British Championships to finish the series in 3rd place overall, taking wins, podium finishes and lap records along the way. These performances have landed him with this ride in the European Championship riding for Racedays Superbike Academy team on Honda 600cc machines for 2008.
David trained hard over the closed season to make sure he can give his best performances as soon as the season kicked off at Valencia, Spain on April 5th.
David was recently presented with the Melville Motor Club’s top award, The Duckhams Salver, for their best racer in the club previously held by the likes of Niall Mackenzie and World champion Sidecar Racer Paul Woodhead. Right now in Scotland he is not just one of the best young riders but one of the top 3 or 4 riders we have.
Throughout this year David has raced at many European race circuits including Valencia (Spain), Assen (Holland), Monza (Italy), Nurburgring (Germany), Brno (Chez Republic) and Brands Hatch (London, Eng). David is the only Scottish Rider to have scored points at the World Superbikes in 2008. Unfortunately to the team’s lack of funds, his European pursuit has been cut short. Also this year David had competed in selected rounds of the Scottish championship. Here he has done very well and in fact has a very high success rate. For the remainder of the season David looks to compete in the British superbike championship onboard Supersport machinery.
David thanks his Sponsors, Paramed UK, Digby brown Solicitors and Pro Scot.
